The female supernumerary seat pool in JoSAA is a wonderful provision to increase the number of girls in engineering colleges; they are allocated from a separate quota to candidates who have opted for it. As a candidate just outside the regular cutoff, I see it as a blessing that offers a chance at a good institute, achaanak. But my small experience tells me allocation is not just about rank—it depends on the institute and branch you choose, and competition within the pool itself.
