WGM title, WIM title, Grandmaster norms — all are earned by crossing rating thresholds and norm requirements in tournaments, just like in the open category, but with separate women's titles. They qualify for the Women's World Championship through rating or zonal events. The difference between Humpy and Harika is Humpy is a full GM (open title) *and* a former Women's World Champion, while Harika is a three-time Women's World Championship contender and holds the GM title in the open category too. I know this grind because at fourteen, I'm already chasing my first WGM norm in between school — the separate women's titles are a faster route to recognition, but my eyes are on the ultimate GM title, same as they did.
