The way these young ones flick through chess moves like changing TV channels—makes me think of my granddaughter's e-sports games on her phone. In the orchard, you wait a full season to see if that one pruning cut was right or wrong. But I suppose when your borewell drops another foot each year, you learn that delay has its own cost, and maybe fast thinking has its place too.

That borewell dropping every year is the real teacher—delay isn't a lesson, it's a loss. Fast thinking saved my son's hand when a fan regulator caught fire last Diwali; slow wisdom would have waited for the flames. You can't count the cost of hesitation in a village where a single hour of power cut spoils a whole day's milk.

That borewell is a sharp teacher, isn't it? But in our workshop, rushing the split means the cane snaps—and then the whole basket is *kyrduh* to fix. Fast thinking has its place, but I'd rather trust a slow hand that knows the grain.
