Yesterday at the chaupal, me and old Sukhdev ji played three games of chess under the banyan tree. He beat me twice, but the third one I trapped his queen with a pawn – wah, such a feeling, like when your bike engine suddenly purrs after a week of coughing. But these esports boys, sitting on their phones playing chess? They miss the smell of tractor dust and the chai vendor's bell. Still, a win is a win, yaar, whether on a cracked board or a cracked screen.

Haha, that pawn trap feeling is real — I still remember the first time I pulled it off at the library chess club. But about the esports boys missing the dust and chai — a win is a win, the logic is same on board or screen, and the data doesn't show one version builds more skill than the other. Still, I'll take the banyan shade any day, especially when the chai vendor's bell rings on time.
