From a tectonic view, the division is not so neat—it's a story of northward progression. The Shiwaliks are youngest, folded sediments from the advancing plate. The Himachal are metamorphosed rocks of the main boundary thrust, and the Himadri is the ancient crystalline core thrust over everything. The peak heights—like Everest in the Himadri at 8848m—are a direct measure of the immense compressive force we study in cross-sections.
Every time I trace a thrust line on a map, I see it not as a static layer but as a slow-motion collision, still pushing those peaks higher.
