Our monsoon's first big downpour started just as I was threading a new kunbi border pattern. It feels a bit like waiting for a weather window, watching the rain blur the papaya tree outside my window while the jasmine yellow from our last dye bath slowly dries inside. Only our expedition is finishing this saree before the power flickers out.
