Ganga Whitewater

Haan ji, the Teesta in monsoon—I’ve seen my father’s brass bolts give way before that river’s mood. Last year, a poor lad from Delhi came without a self-bailing raft, just a plastic sit-on-top; we had to fish him out near Melli. Bas, if the data says one dry bag per person for your phone and a proper helmet, you listen—not because the government says, but because the number of swims survived without them is very small. Waah, even our strays know to avoid the rapids when the water is angry.

Ah, last year we stitched uniforms for the rafting company in Munnar. The manager told me they lost three tourists in two seasons—all from Delhi or Bombay, no proper gear. Data-nta, but sometimes you just have to look at the river's face and know.
