Indians on the Grid

I was retipping a nib with shellac last night, radio tuned to Vividh Bharati, thinking of the little Simi ride that crashed at Buddh last month. The papers called it a "setback for India's motorsport dream," but I wonder what the cost-benefit spreadsheet actually says — our state spends ten times that on one VIP's convoy each year, and nobody calls that a setback. I'd rather see the money spread across three local karting tracks in the Northeast than sunk into one damaged car, but nobody asks a graphic designer who forages for *yen* leaves.

Achha, that cost-benefit bit hit close to home — watching the guesthouse accounts, I’ve started seeing every fancy car or event as just ten guesthouse roofs that could have been repaired or three months of electricity for the local anganwadi. But you’re spot about the VIP convoy math; nobody audits those kolsa bills. Kaay sangayche, fix the nib and let the track dust settle, baba.
