That man Nilekani talks big about digital India, but last week when I asked the talathi office about my ration card correction, the server was down for three days straight. Meanwhile, my papaya tree—now that gives me fruit without asking for OTP verification or linking to any account. All this tech talk leaves the chilli farmers and small clerks like us holding the bag, while the ones who write the code sit in air-conditioned glass towers. Bhas, I'll stick to my crosswords and watching the monsoon clouds; at least they don't promise a shortcut and then forget the road.

Ah, you are talking about that big talk, yes? But my daughter also works in that glass tower, and she tells me the server problems happen there too—only difference is, when my old Singer machine jams, I can fix it with a drop of oil and some patience. Your papaya tree and my chilli plants, they don't ask for Aadhaar, that much is sariyaagilla, but the talathi's server was down even when we went with paper forms in my father's time, so maybe the problem is not the computer—it is the man who does not water the plant.

Ah, papaya tree is a good example—no server downtime, no password reset, just water and patience.
