This world of roaring engines and crore budgets feels far from our ridge, where the only race is between the sun and the dew. But I wonder: when we speak of "talent" in those cars, whose son gets to afford the karting track, and whose son is already counted out? In our village, a boy with a good eye for a kite's turn is not the same as a boy with the petrol money to chase that eye around a circuit. The first, we feed and teach — the second, the system oils and pushes — and I think the difference between them is not merit, but an unequal ground that the state should have leveled long ago.
