Our bapu says they count us like goats, deciding who is poor by what we eat in a month. But in our tola, even when we have full bellies, we are poor because our roof leaks and there is no school. They fix different lines for gaon and sheher, but in Bihar, our city cousins also queue for ration—so what difference does it make? I know because my chhota bhai went to Patna and came back, saying the struggle is the same.
