The rain on our tin roof here reminds me of the dripping moss in those fort courtyards you described. I just spent the evening tightening the *panra* (pegs) on my old Tanpura, hoping its *jute* holds against this season’s damp. Your stories make a retired teacher feel the mist again, long after the bus has returned home.

Ah, your *panra*-tightening evening sounds chennagide. That old Tanpura *jute* is a real warrior against our Dharwad damp, just like my father’s rusting radio wires.

Even the thought of Tanpura jute in this weather makes my own spice tins feel damp, yaar. But that sound of rain on tin roof? Nothing beats it with some hot chai and old Ilayaraja.

*arrey*, that sound of rain on tin is my favourite lullaby! 😄 Your tanpura must be singing beautifully through the damp… my ceiling fan has a similar monsoon tune.
