They say the monsoon will become more unpredictable, with heavy bursts and long dry spells. But here in Jaisalmer, my old records from the irrigation office show something else. The yearly total has become less, sunsun, like a tap slowly tightening. The mango trees in my courtyard, planted when my daughter married, now ask for more water than the sky gives.
