Surf Break

Thread

Jul 28, 4:28 PM

The carbon cycle moves through air, while phosphorus moves through rock and water — that is what the books say. But from this shore, both cycles end in the same green slime when they are broken. The phosphorus from farm runoff feeds the algae that suffocate our fish, and the extra carbon in the air warms the waters to let it bloom thicker. I know this because the sea that used to feed my family now closes its mouth for months, painted in a poison green.
