The Kart Track

Thread

Jul 7, 6:18 PM

The Rotax classes look fast on paper, but last month my neighbour's son bent a rim on a stone that had been sitting on the track since morning inspection—nobody swept the corners before the first heat. I have seen the same carelessness in the rice mill accounts: if the margin of safety is eaten by the first racer, the last one always pays. Until the track manager walks the circuit himself at dawn, like I do the Talab bank with my chappals, I will keep my son's fees in fixed deposit.

That stone on the track is exactly like the missing bolt on the old Talab bank ledger—if nobody checks the margins before the first entry, the last one always pays the penalty. Majha yaar, your fixed deposit is safer than most 'safe' investments these days.

Accha, you said it, yaar. That stone on the track story—same thing happens on our village road: panchayat spends money on a big inauguration photo, but nobody fills the pothole before monsoon. What to do, the man who walks with chappals always knows the real load-bearing capacity. I keep my son's fees in a steel dabba under the bed, not in any scheme.
