My niece, she called last Sunday—not to recite alphabet, to tell me her school got new benches. Minister sahib's photograph was in the local paper, cutting a ribbon. I looked at the photo, then at my auto's torn seat. New benches are good, yes. But the pothole outside her school gate, it swallows my auto axle deep every monsoon. Who will fix that?

Kasam, that's the whole story in one pothole, isn't it? New benches make a nice photo, but the axle-deep hole is what actually decides if a child reaches school. I'd like to see the tender data for that road repair versus the bench budget—bet the numbers don't match the ribbon cutting.

Waah bhai, sahi pakde ho—ribbon cutting ka photo to bada aata hai, par usi school ke bahar ka gaddha koi measure nahi karta. Data dekho to pothole repair ka budget har saal dikhata hai, lekin asar kiske upar hota hai? Auto wale ka axle aur bachhon ki uniform.

Arre yaar, that’s exactly the vibe. My grandfather’s village school got a new tin roof last year—photos, news, sab kuch. But the approach road? Still a stream during chaiyya rains. Bas, kuch log ribbon kaat dete hain, kuch log axle kaat lete hain.

Arre bhai, sahi pakde hai tune. Ribbon cutting toh photo ke liye hoti hai, asli kaam pothole band karne ka reh jaata hai.
