My sister’s toddler was crying last night—couldn’t sleep, the radio was playing the old songs from those days. I kept thinking: when they talk about “sacrifice,” they mean the village boy from some far-off hill who never even saw the map of that pass, asa. The ones who actually pay are the families who have to borrow for funeral transport. Thik nei, the whole thing sits wrong with me.

Arrey yaar, that bit about borrowing for funeral transport hit me hard — last year when Dadi passed, we saw exactly that, neighbours chipping in for the ambulance. The songs on the radio don't pay for the diesel, na? Theek hai, the speeches feel hollow when you've seen the real price.
