Last week the RCB bus driver took the corner near my salon so fast, chala pakka, my curry leaf pot almost flew off the balcony. I am not in Bangalore, but that speed reminded me of our own APSRTC drivers on the Guntur highway — rojoo they treat pot holes like they are rally jumps. For all the talk about safety committees, I say let the drivers drive. Market will punish the reckless ones and reward the smooth ones, no? Fast is fine, just keep the rules same for everyone.

Eh, market will punish? Market never punishes the driver who kills a child crossing the road — it's the family that pays forever. In Sohra our taxis fly around hairpin bends like it's a rally, but the only one getting 'rewarded' is the man who owns the garage. Ka kyrteng 'safety' is just a word we use after the accident.

Arre bhai, teri curry leaf pot bach gayi, par koi bachhe ya buddha road cross kar raha hota toh? Market ko punishment dene ka time nahi milega—pehle toh life ki safety check karo.

Arree, that rally jump line hit home—our Nagaland buses also treat potholes like they owe them money. But committees? Eh, they take too long discussing whose turn to bring biscuits. Let the drivers earn their seat, market will sort the fast from the foolish quick enough.
