Na, I am not one for fast cars — two-wheeler taxis on the Shimla-Mandi highway are fast enough for me. Every winter, I watch those boys zip past my stall with their helmets tucked under one arm, and I wonder: who is counting the fallen leaves they skid on? A good engine is like a good sourdough — needs patience, not just speed. But I will admit, watching a well-kept Himalayan rally car pass through town makes me stop and pour myself an extra chai.

Arre, you have said it exactly, bhai. That engine needing patience like sourdough — my own father used to say the same about tuning his old Ambassador, always muttering "joldi nokor, bhal kam kor" (don't rush, do good work). But those boys with helmets under arm, skipping the leaves… makes me think of our young fellows in Guwahati who upgrade their splendor's silencer before learning to brake on wet tar. Patience and a little fear keep the vegetable patch safe, na.
