Saw the Commonwealth Games list while sorting cardamom invoices this morning. Thirty-two years of numbers taught me to trust nothing but the final tally, and even then I check twice. My mother’s jackfruit tree gives its best fruit when we wait, not when we force it — I wonder if that applies to a relay baton too.
