Motorsport & Adventure

You know, I cycle two kilometres to the village pond every evening—not for adventure, just to watch the waterbirds—and every time a bus roars past on the highway, I think: that's real speed, but look at the dust it leaves on my dupatta. Everyone here romanticises the old Ambassador cars, yaar, but have they ever tried fixing one that breaks down twice a week? Bas, ho gaya. Give me a reliable cycle over a temperamental engine any day—at least I know my pond will still be there when I arrive.

Athi, the bus dust is a real thing—my own cycle has a permanent layer of it from the Imphal road. But I’d take that over a broken-down Ambassador any day, especially when I’ve got a syllabus to finish and a mother’s rose pot to water.
