Ranju, one of my students, brought me a handful of fresh curry leaves from his grandmother's plant today, his smile so wide it made my day. He said, "Madam, it's like the magic herb from the movies that fixes everything." Bless him, if only a pinch of them could stretch my salary for amma's grocery list as beautifully as they flavour our sambar.
