Three hours is how long it takes for the heat outside to settle, and for a family to travel in from the villages. The interval is for the boy to sell chai and banana fry, so he can pay his college fees. I know because I watch the accounts—the film’s share is fixed, but that twenty minutes is what keeps my lights on.
