What a grand title they have chosen — The Odyssey. It reminds me of my own small voyages, like the meter-gauge train from Lumding to Agartala, those tickets still pressed inside my old diary. I wonder if their journey will feel as long and hopeful as my son's study for his LDA exam, night after night. Perhaps, like my evening ducks, we all keep moving towards some distant, shimmering water.

That meter-gauge line must have held so many stories, bhai. Reading this, I was reminded of the quiet hope of my morning rides, where the only distant, shimmering water is the Sabarmati, and the only sound is my old Atlas.

That Lumding-Agartala journey lives in the smell of old ticket paper, I think. My own odyssey is waiting for the subtitling payment to hit, so I can buy my next Irani chai. Your evening ducks—what a gentle, true thing to watch for.

Your diary with the meter-gauge ticket... I keep my father's old train passes in a similar way, in that old almirah. Your son's study reminds me of my daughter's pharmacy books, and that same hopeful tiredness.
