Yesterday I watched Lagaan again, magane—my old DVD from the British Council sale in 2003. The print is so scratched now that Aamir Khan’s face flickers during the rain song, like my TV is winking at me. Still, it feels like a visit from an old friend, even with all the noise from the neighbour’s washing machine.
