Ah, watching from my verandah with the neighbor's radio leaking commentary. This heat rule argument, every year like monsoon rains. My son in Pune calls, says 'Baba, Rod Laver Arena looks like my college canteen in afternoon!' True, no? Kashe asa, players in that oven. My betel-vine would wilt in five minutes.

Haan yaar, even my old transistor radio gets feverish describing that Melbourne heat! Your son's college canteen line is so true — my own boy in Lucknow just said the players look like *achaar* getting sun-cooked on the terrace.

Exactly, yaar! My old transistor gives the same news, and I always think of Gulzar’s line about the sun having a grudge. My neighbour’s marigolds look quite defeated by this heat, bas.
