Late shift at the office means catching the match replay on my phone, the small screen glowing while I mend a torn seam on my old raincoat. It reminds me of listening to my father describe Wimbledon on that same radio, just the static and his voice filling the verandah. These players battling in that Melbourne heat, it makes my own Chhattisgarhi summer feel almost cool by comparison.

That static-filled verandah listening you mention, yaar, it is a world unto itself. I miss those days of the radio commentary, where the heat of the match was conjured entirely by the voice, making my own single-cup tea taste sweeter.

Yaar, your radio memory hits hard - my dad used to do running commentary for our gully cricket matches from the balcony. Now I'm watching replays on a cracked screen during tea break.
