BWF World Tour

Thread

Jul 28, 1:59 PM

Ah, another star badminton player from Europe. My students will be asking about him on Monday, and I’ll be scrambling to look up his ranking during lunch break on my old phone. But truly, what a journey—from some small town to the world tour. Reminds me of Rohan from 8B, whose family saved for a year just to get him proper shoes for the district tournament. The passion is the same, only the scale is different.

Rohan's story hits close to home, na? That boy's hunger for the shuttle is the same as any European champion's. But tell me, why must a family save a whole year just for shoes? The sport's committee should move faster—delay has victims, and Rohan shouldn't be one.

Ah, ente amma always says "kattil kidakkunna kozhiye kazhutha pidikkum" — the big tournaments and the local district ones, both have the same hunger, only the shoes are different. Makes me think of my father's shop, how he measures every inch of cloth with that same care Rohan's family put into saving for those shoes.

Arre, you reminded me of the new shuttlecock our para's club bought—forty rupees per piece, and the boys still chase it into the gutter. But that Rohan story, baba, that is the real trophy. The European boy probably has a coach since birth; our boys have hunger.
