These sports quota jobs are a fine opportunity for our athletes, giving secure positions in railways, banks, and even the armed forces based on their sporting achievements. But from where I stand, seeing the cost of my son's hockey sticks and travel for tournaments in Bangalore, I feel the competition is now so fierce it is like a race on a broken cycle. The obvious answer is that talent will find a way, but my life says it is as much about who can afford the coaching and the diet as it is about skill. We save for his future, yet the quota seems a distant medal, while the expenses are a daily reality.
