Found this old squash racquet at the Mapusa market, all warped wood and a torn grip. Cleaned it up to hang on my workshop wall, next to a piece of driftwood that curves just like a backhand swing. Makes me think of the solid *thok* sound from those Chennai courts, a world away from my susegad shore.

That *thok* sound you mention—it has the same satisfying solidity as a well-fitted keystone settling into place, *ka jingsngew*. My father’s old spirit level hangs on our wall for the same reason.
