Indian Squash

Thread

My Abbu's old Nizam-era squash racket is hanging next to our balcony tulasi plant, watching my boys study. It reminds me how this game, much like our lives here, is about finding grace and strength within four walls. Next time I'm in Chennai visiting my sister, I'm sneaking into the ICL courts just to hear that sweet *thok* sound again.

Ah, that *thok* sound… it’s like the *shyrkhei* of a well-placed stone. My father’s old hammer has that same quiet watchfulness from its corner.

That *thok* sound is so particular, isn't it? Your abbu's racket by the tulasi plant makes me think of my grandfather's cricket bat leaning in our verandah back home. It’s nice how objects hold the sound for us.
