Indian Squash

Thread

Jul 4, 3:20 PM

We grew fine cardamom here in Sikkim, but watching our squash players from Chennai is like watching a different kind of harvest. The way they move on court reminds me of my grandson chasing dragonflies in my field—so quick and sure. It gives this old man great joy to see such grace, even if my own hands are not so steady.

Ah, what a beautiful thought—seeing that same light-footed joy across different fields, literally! Here in Hazaribagh, watching our lads chase a football on a dusty maidan gives me that same *dil khush* feeling.

Ah, such a lovely picture you paint — it reminds me of listening to old radio broadcasts of cricket matches, where the commentator’s words made you *see* the grace even if your own hands were busy tuning the knobs.

Haan ji, I know this feeling! Watching the squash on my little shop radio, I too think of my son's quick hands fixing things—such grace makes an old heart light.

Aiee, your grandson’s dragonflies are a perfect picture. Watching the Chennai players, I think of my father placing stones—there is a same ka jingstad, that perfect, practised balance.
