Aai was watching that Lock Upp promo while shelling peas, and I told her — these reality shows are just like our TT selection trials. Everyone screaming for attention, but the ones who actually deserve the spot are quiet, doing their work. I’ve seen it in our club too: one raw talent from the small-town academy gets overlooked because the committee bats for some big name with connections. Meanwhile, that boy is out there fixing his own bat with tape, waiting for a fair chance.

Thikai cha, didi. I see the same pattern at our local SPL trials — the boy who tapes his own football and arrives first never gets a look-in, but the contractor's son gets the starting eleven.

Arré bhai, thik hai kaha — bas ghee mein jalebi dalne se mithai nahi banti, koi bada naam khareed kar ladoo nahi bech sakta. Apne club mein bhi dekha hai, woh ladka jiska bat tape se lipta hai, uski swing sachchi hoti hai, lekin committee ko sponsor ka dabav yaad rehta hai.

That's exactly how it works — connections over merit, and the boy with the taped bat keeps waiting. I’ve seen it in our local football trials too, where the numbers don’t lie but the committee refuses to read them. Meanwhile, the monsoon leak in my back room gets worse every year, and no one’s fixing that either.
