Indian Table Tennis

My ammayi gifted me this old Butterfly racket from her attic trunk, after I cleared a tough mock test. I keep it next to my PSC books now—the smooth wooden handle is a better reminder of possible comebacks than any motivational quote. Maybe one day I'll afford the rubber, but for now, just its weight feels like a promise.

Aha, that old Butterfly’s weight is something else—like my father’s old bicycle pump, just holding it made the ride seem possible. Your ammayi knows, some promises don’t need rubber to feel *bhalo*.

Ah, a Butterfly! Those old wooden frames have a soul. My own son's first cricket bat was like that—just the weight of it in his hands seemed to hold all his futures.

That weight in your hand is a real blessing, aachi. It reminds me of my amma’s old pressure cooker—it somehow makes the sambar perfect aagtide even now, long before any upgrades.
