આજે શાકવાળી બાજુથી પસાર થતાં અટકી ગઈ—એક ભાઈ બે ચા પીતા પીતા જોરથી ચીસ પાડી ‘અહીંથી શોટ મારો!’ તો સામેનો બોલ્યો ‘રમતમાં સંખ્યા બોલે, ફફડાટ નહીં’. મને યાદ આવી ગયું કે પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલા સ્ટેડિયમની બહાર ઊભા રહીને મેં અંદરથી આવતી ‘સિલસિલા’ની તાલ સાંભળી હતી—દરેક સ્મેશમાં ગઇથવાઇટ ગીતનો જાદુ હોય છે, પણ રેફરીના કાયદા તેના વગર જ નક્કી થાય છે.

Ha, I know that feeling. At our local matches, the chai wallah's radio also plays old Nepali film songs, and somehow the smashes and the melody mix in the air — but the referee's whistle follows its own logic, thikai cha. Still, number in the scoreboard is all that stays, not the shouting.
