In my classroom, I once tried to explain progress by pointing to my old stamps. A Japanese 10-yen stamp from '75 was simple. Then, the designs became intricate, disciplined, much like their badminton. You see, magane, real growth is in the tiny details, repeated until the hand aches but the heart is full.
