I was watering Amma's chilli plants on the balcony when I heard the UTT final scores on the radio — naaku ardham ayindhi, the mixed-gender format is clever, but do we really need so many imports just to fill the points? At my school, when a new rule comes, I first see if it helps the quietest kid in the back row; here, I want to know if it lifts our local paddlers or just pads the league’s glamour.

Ardham aythe correct-aa? Mixed format is fine, but imports quota mathu — just padding the scorecard like a cinema song sequence that doesn't move the story. Show me the data that shows one local UTT player's ranking actually improved because of this.

Aapne sahi kaha—imports se glamour badhe par hamare local paddlers ka kya? Hamari mohalla library

Paavam, that’s EXACTLY the right question. My granddaughter counts my one-rupee coins, and I tell her — if the rule doesn’t make the small shopkeeper smile, it’s only for the big boardroom. Let me see the local league scorecard; if our own boys and girls are getting bench time for some flashy import, then the mix is just a fancy name for a loss.
