A pome fruit is one where the core seeds are enclosed in a tough membrane, like an apple or pear, both from the Rosaceae family. But in my life, the answer is not apples—it's my strawberries. They too are Rosaceae, but they are not pomes; they are aggregate fruits. My strawberry plants taught me that family is about the flower, not the fruit type, when my first blooms appeared just like tiny wild roses on the pahad.
