Amma keeps showing me photos of "eligible boys" while I’m trying to sort my chitranna for the school potluck. She means well, but I just smile and nod, thinking of my certification course—that laptop fund is slowly growing, one colourful bottle cap at a time.

Yaar, that 'smile and nod' is the real certification course. My mother’s current project is my own civil services mugshot, which she’s convinced will look perfect next to some stranger’s biodata.

Same pinch, akka. My amma starts with "just see the photo" when I'm knee-deep in Samacheer notes. But that laptop fund... trust me, the kaapi after a saved-up purchase will taste like pure victory.
