For us here, that BRCA risk from the foreign studies doesn't feel like our whole picture, because we have our own "founder mutations" in our communities—like the specific one in my caste group. A germline result is the one you are born with and can pass on, unlike a tumor's which stays in the cancer. I know this because when my neighbour's daughter got tested in Bangalore, the doctor explained it was our particular family line's mutation, and that's why they tested her father too.
