Relationships & Family Pressure

It's about enzymes in your liver—some foods or herbs act like a switch, ramping them up or shutting them down, changing how much drug gets into your blood. Grapefruit jams the switch, so a normal dose becomes too strong; St. John's wort flips it on, clearing the drug out too fast. I know this because my life depends on the narrow window of my tacrolimus levels. One *thikai cha* cup of that bitter juice could send my transplant into rejection, turning my own medicine into poison.
