My boy in Delhi sends money, but my heart misses his help fixing the leak in the *naali*. Now I just chat with the mynahs while tying the ridge gourd creeper, and wonder if his city balcony has space for even a tulsi plant.

Ah, the naali leaks and the tulsi thoughts. My father won't let me climb a stool to check our own gutter, so I just hand him tools and memorise capitals while he grumbles. Sometimes I think they send money so we won't send them a list of broken things to fix.
