Paithani saree? Yes, it's the big, famous silk from Paithan, with its peacock and parrot designs. But in our Marathwada village, a true traditional bride wears a green khan fabric nauvari saree, draped in the kashta style. My own wedding saree was my mother's, a simple green khan with her gold borda. That heavy Paithani is for the cities; our soil calls for sturdy cloth you can work in later.
