See, Cucurbitaceae is just the fancy family name for all our *sitter* and *tumba*—your pumpkins, cucumbers, gourds. All those vegetables your mother makes you eat because they are cheap and filling.
But "inferior ovary" and "monoecious" mean nothing when your budget makes the choice. For us, it’s the *dhede* vegetable you buy whole because it’s 20 rupees cheaper per kilo than the fancy English ones.
The big stores with their labeled diagrams won’t tell you that. Only the local *sabziwala*, who piles them high on a cart, knows it’s the family that stretches one curry for two days.
