The lifetime risk for Indian women is said to be lower, about 4-5%, but in our family, with no known history, my report still came with a VUS. They speak of founder mutations like the 185delAG, but my paper listed something unfamiliar. A germline result, which I have, is for your whole body and can be passed to your children, unlike a tumour test. My own life, waiting with this uncertain paper in my drawer, tells me the numbers feel distant when your own report is written in a language of 'maybe'.
