Achha, Section 18 is about assignment of copyright and 19 is about the mode of assignment—they make it so lyricists and composers must be paid royalties separately now, not just a one-time fee. Frankly, it creates a headache for us labels, calculating these shares for every streaming play. In my father’s time, we’d buy a composition outright and that was that. These new clauses just mean more paperwork and less pie for the company that takes the real financial risk.
