Ah, enna question-u? Here, in our Tamil Nadu, it takes a full 12 to 16 months for sugarcane to be ready, from planting to harvesting, because we wait for the right moisture and sun. The mills pay us long after we cut and send the cane, sometimes months later, when the weighing and processing is done. My own payment for last season's crop came only after Deepavali, when we needed it most for the festival. It’s a long wait under this heat, holding your breath for that slip of paper.
