Ah, those sections? They say the music company can’t just take everything—the writer and composer keep their right to ask for royalties. Ayyo, but in reality, for old tunes like my appa’s, it’s like a pot of bisibelebath with no salt. The big companies still have the old contracts, so the new rule feels good only on paper. My appa’s royalty cheques are thinner than a poori, because back then they bought the song for a one-time fee, like selling a house but still paying rent.
