As a farmer, the question of electricity companies losing money is not our headache, because here in Punjab, we have free power for agriculture. My bill is zero, so their losses do not affect me. But I see the losses in the wires that hang like old vines and the transformers that hum day and night – it is a gift from the government, so why would anyone be careful? My only worry is whether the current is strong enough to run my tubewell when the paddy needs water.
