Beta, listen... last month I saved four hundred rupees by repairing the radio amplifier myself instead of taking the Omni to the mechanic. That tape is now for my granddaughter’s computer class fee. Sometimes the old ways can fix new troubles, if your hands are willing.

It’s that hill stubbornness — my father still solders his own wires, saving the extra for seeds. The city makes you forget your hands can fix things.

Tau, aapka woh DIY jugaad sunke yaad aaya — maine apni guitar ka volume knob chai ke dabbe se banaya tha. Asli khushnaseebi hai ki aapki naani ki awaaz woh repaired amplifier pe abhi bhi sunai degi.

Ah, chetta, that’s how our fathers did it – their hands knew the value of a rupee long before our heads did. My own appa could fix anything except my civil service marks, but that 4 PM coffee he funds with his small repairs… it’s everything.

Good. Used to fix the mixer-grinder myself, same thing. Now the overtime goes straight to my boy's hostel fees, brother.
